The Alliance CEO Cheryl DeMars will retire next year.

DeMars joined the Madison-based coalition of self-insured employers in 1992. She became CEO in 2006.

“The Alliance is at the forefront of transformative, employer-led change in healthcare,” she said in a Thursday statement. “We have accomplished a lot, but there is much more work to do to make healthcare work better for everyone — those that receive care, those who pay for care and those who are responsible for its delivery.”

Children’s Wisconsin CEO Peggy Troy intends to retire by the end of December 2024, according to a Thursday statement.

Troy has led the pediatric health system since 2009. She’s the first woman to serve in the CEO role.

“Her tenure has been nothing short of transformative for those we serve, and all who care about and advance our mission,” said Patrick Hammes, chair of the Children’s Wisconsin Board of Directors.

Under Troy’s tenure, the health system has expanded its footprint to more than 50 locations throughout Wisconsin.

“We have made tremendous strides in driving innovation that cares for every aspect of kids’ total health — physical, mental, social and dental,” Troy said. “Whether routine or the most complex, this work binds our current and future leaders to our vision of helping kids in Wisconsin become the healthiest in the nation.”

Troy started her career as a pediatric nurse at Children’s Hospital, now known as Children’s Wisconsin, in 1975.

The health system expects to complete a national search for her replacement next year.
