Overall hospital rates — which do not include clinical care— at Theda Clark, Appleton Medical Center and New London Family Medical Center rose an average of 3 percent. Riverside Medical Center, which ThedaCare also operates, had a 3.5 percent rate increase. Hospital rate hikes are as common as seasonal changes as care providers also are faced with rising business costs and need additional revenues. For the past two decades, Wisconsin laws have required hospitals to publicize rate increases.
