FORT ATKINSON –Fort HealthCare has been named to the list of “100 Health Care Organizations to Watch” in 2013, published recently on MHAPrograms.org, the website of the national organization that represents universities offering Master’s degree programs in health services administration.
MHAPrograms.org follows health care trends and news, especially in the education sector and is particularly aware that the medical industry is in transition to accommodate a growing elderly population, new technology, and rapid innovation. The Watch list acknowledges health care organizations that are handling the changes with grace, and to show their readership of health administration students what it looks like when health care companies get it right.
Forty seven (47) health care organizations are featured on the listing specific to Hospitals and Clinics. Among those listed with Fort HealthCare are much larger organizations such as Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Affinity Health System, Kaiser Permanente, Barnes Jewish Hospital, and the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. Each organization was nominated to the list and later, judged by the MHAPrograms.org faculty and staff as recipients worthy of the award.
“Some organizations have cracked under the pressure, and some have risen to the top as leaders, visionaries and innovators in a difficult period. The organizations, websites, blogs, and companies are doing good work, and we’re excited to watch them grow throughout the next year and beyond,” wrote the author of the web article. The designation as a member of the top “100 Health Care Organizations to Watch” list follows another significant milestone in Fort HealthCare‘s continuing evolution as a premier provider of healthcare services able to adapt to new technology and rapid innovation. Late in 2012, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) notified Fort HealthCare that its recent electronic medical record (EMR) initiative has resulted in a HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 Award, signifying attainment of the highest level on the Electronic Medical Records Adoption Model. The HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 award honors hospitals operating in a paperless environment and represents those organizations that have achieved best practices in implementing an EMR.
This achievement, especially for a healthcare organization the size of Fort HealthCare, is very rare. Fort HealthCare is one of only 95 facilities, or 1.7 percent of the more than 5,000 U.S. hospitals in the HIMSS Database to have attained the HIMSS Analytics Stage 7 Award.
